salt, sand and guacamole

"In the morning there was a big wind blowing
and the waves were running high up on the beach
and he was awake a long time before
he remembered that his heart was broken."
— Ernest Hemingway
There was a moment, as our plane followed the curves of the Potomac,
that the sparkling lights of the District and the glittering sun on the Sea of Cortez
collided in my mind - having seen and been amazed by both in the same 24 hours -
and the world became impossibly small and incredibly grand in that instant.

We got back home late last night, and while the cool air this morning in the District was refreshing -
I do terribly miss the warmth of the Mexican sun and the smell of the salty air.
Our days were filled with reading Hemingway, relaxing and eating some of the best food I've ever had -
Mexican food is my favorite after all, and Edith's never lets me down.

Luckily, today is already Thursday and
I am so ready for a weekend just at home with Mr. D.  I do love where we live.

the now-and-always of it

"She walked on, comforted by the surf,
by the one perpetual moment of beach-time,
the now-and-always of it."
— William Gibson
Husband and I are headed to Cabo San Lucas in a week
And I can hardly wait to be back in Mexico with Mr.D.
The colors, the smells and the sounds -
the way time slows to an intentional yet carefree crawl...

flying whales

"We do not remember days, we remember moments.
The richness of life lies in memories we have
forgotten." - Cesar Pavese
Some moments, however will never be forgotten.

Viva la Mexico

This morning my parents boarded a plane for Cabo San Lucas
with a bunch of their friends
I cant believe that it was exactly a year ago
that we were all there
Oh what I would give to feel the sand between my toes
instead of the snow falling into my boots

Thankfully next year I will be able to go.
The suite sleeps 16...who's in?!

Miss you, Randi!
