Alexandria.

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
-Theodore Roosevelt-
I have learned so much more about my surroundings by
riding my bike...and on Friday, I discovered even more
by walking home from work...
Red brick sidewalks. Black iron railings.
Secret gardens behind brick walls.
The sound of the leaves rustling from
the tall tunnels of trees covering the road.
Robert E. Lee's childhood home.
Where George Washington once went to church.
Black shutters. And windows into someone else's world.

decorate.

"Its your life, you can decorate it as you like..."
 - Ben Folds
I have been in my apartment since September
and I am just now itching to really decorate it.
By really decorate, I mean paint walls
and hang pictures...
actually search for the perfect pieces.

I don't know why I am all of the sudden nesting
and instead of looking longingly at a new pair
of shoes, I find myself searching for paintings and
frames to hang on my mostly bare walls.

First on my list is to organize and decorate my
desk space. I love this gigantic cork board wall
(which as it turns out is actually burlap?!)

Someday...

“Each day offers us the gift of being a special occasion if we can simply learn that as well as giving, it is blessed to receive with grace and a grateful heart.”

― Sarah Ban Breathnach

Someday when I have a dining room,
I will paint it a fun bright color
So that good conversation and playful music
will dance right off its walls

Orange, lately.

I have never been a huge fan of orange,
but lately I am loving it
