"He walked out in the gray light and stood and he saw for a brief moment the absolute truth of the world. The cold relentless circling of the intestate earth. Darkness implacable. The blind dogs of the sun in their running. The crushing black vacuum of the universe. And somewhere two hunted animals trembling like ground-foxes in their cover. Borrowed time and borrowed world and borrowed eyes with which to sorrow it."
— Cormac McCarthy (The Road)
Just after dawn we walked next door to watch
the Virginia Hunt take off.
Our neighbor's house was built in the 1830s
and it was surreal to watch the horses wandering
about the premises.
Many still wear red coats and a trumpet sounds the start.
My favorite, though, are the hounds.
[many more pictures to come that are safely
waiting to be downloaded from the 'good camera']
This coming week is FULL to the brim
and I am loving and thankful for every minute.
