last night's dream

“Have courage for the great sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.”
 Victor Hugo
I should be asleep.
My husband and baby are both asleep - the latter of which is key.
And yet
in this quiet, fairly messy apartment,
I find comfort in being the only one awake.

I love this tiny home of ours. So much has happened here...
and yet
it was never meant to last long.
Even from the very beginning,
it seemed like last night's dream.

So, as we open the windows letting the fall breeze blow through the hall,
I hold tightly to the fleeting daylight
and every quiet moment I'm given to take it all in.
