Happy Weekend and a little trick for you from Lucy

“Remember, remember, this is now, and now, and now.
Live it, feel it, cling to it. I want to become acutely aware of all I’ve taken for granted.”
― Sylvia Plath
I fell asleep a little after eight last night (a new norm for me and this pregnant body of mine),
but I awoke suddenly around 10 pm and decided to make a cake in our tree house full of boxes.
One doesn't always need a reason to make a cake...
sometimes just the smell of it is reason enough.
So, we laid cozy in bed and watched Modern Family while the delicious smell of a baking cake
filled the naked walls of our little home.

Its hard to believe that this is our last full weekend in this house of ours.

Hope you have a very happy weekend!
Oh, and Lucy wanted to show you her new trick....
she loves it so much that she will even do it when you say
sit, stay or roll over. It has become her go-to move.

the district awakes to snow

“I love you because no two snowflakes are alike, and it is possible,
if you stand tippy-toe, to walk between the raindrops. ”
― Nikki Giovanni

The District was dusted in snow overnight.
So after eating orange danish rolls in bed, we headed downtown to let Lucy run in the snow.

Happy Birthday, Lucy!!

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent.
To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden,
where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.”

― Milan Kundera
Our Lucy girl is a whole year old.
We celebrated with Logan and Janelle at one of Lucy's favorite places, The Dairy Godmother.
She enjoyed every lick of her peanut butter puppy pop.
Poor girl is still growing out her hair from her recent shave,
but she was a hit with her party hat.

Those first few puppy months weren't easy...but I can't imagine our family without her now.
She is such a good little companion and constantly has us laughing and smiling.
We are pretty convinced she's the best dog around.

Happy Birthday, Moose.

One within one.

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”
― Marcus Aurelius
Having life growing in my belly - the surreal idea of it as a whole -
has wrapped me up in a calm I have never felt before.
Every morning I wake up and lay my hand over my growing belly just to make sure its still there
and the affirmation fills me with so much joy and excitement.

We did everything we could to be "responsible" and "safe" in planning
this pregnancy for a [MUCH] later date...
but now even those words seem kind of silly to me because
I feel like this is exactly where we were always meant to be.
I am so enjoying this time we have as a family of three and a half...
I wouldn't trade a single moment of it for anything in the world.

This growing belly, Lucy girl and the kind, fun and handsome man by my side
and this plan that is so much better than we could have ever laid out ourselves
brings me such an amazing and peaceful joy.
