meh...moving.

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.”
― Anaïs Nin

I should be packing. But I keep stumbling upon pictures and getting lost in old journals. So, amid boxes piled high, all I can do is sit and smile, reliving all of the adventures we've had so far. Gosh, I love this little family of ours.

But I've got to stop procrastinating and take advantage of the nap Lyla Bird is currently taking and fill the mostly empty boxes starring back at me.

Man, oh man, do I hate moving.

dreams in space like flying kites

“Throw your dreams into space like a kite,
and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life,
a new friend, a new love, a new country.”
― Anaïs Nin
Boston will always hold a special place in my heart.
Looking back, I know it will seem like a little dream or
an extended vacation along cobbled streets.
But it is here that we first met our baby girl
and it was here that we brought her home.
And here that I saw my husband in new light -
not just the handsome man and best friend I married...
but also the most fun and loving dad to our baby girl.

Its a busy week here for us...
Rob's mom is here visiting and a realtor is showing our apartment all week.
A sea of boxes will soon flood our floors...

I can hardly believe our time here in Boston is coming to an end.
On to more adventures - dreams thrown into space...

"we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it.."

“I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving - we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it - but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.”
― Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.
I have been sick for almost a week now and just as the freezing cold weather and snow decided
to grace us with their sudden presence this weekend...
so, too did my cold take hold of my body in quite a climactic fashion - it has not been a pretty sight.

I definitely don't recommend moving while sick and six and a half months pregnant in 20 degree weather.
Thank goodness for Mr. D (and my parents who rescued us on Sunday) - he has been working so hard!

Despite a culmination of several unknown factors,
we are feeling pretty good about everything and excited for this new adventure.
Now, if I could just get over this terrible cold!

the great affair...and then some.

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go.
I travel for travel's sake.
The great affair is to move.”
― Robert Louis Stevenson
I've heard that some of the top stresses in life are money, jobs, having a baby and health.
I am pretty sure moving should be added to that list (and maybe a few others).

I truly believe we are only given what we can handle and like my dad said the other day,
what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
So, we are seeing how many of the things on that list we can take on all at the same time.

So far I think we are doing a pretty darn good job -
thankfully we both have good health (and baby too) and
we are feeling pretty blessed and thankful for all that we have been given...
but prayers and happy thoughts are very much welcome over here : )

Tea & Nog

"It is a fair, even-handed, noble adjustment of things, that while there is infection in disease and sorrow, there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour." — Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol)

Two of my roommates threw the best Christmas Party on Saturday.
Alight with nothing but candles and christmas lights,
we enjoyed an unbelievable spread of delicious food.

I have grown quite accustomed to the sound of voices
upstairs as I fall asleep and am afraid I will really miss this temporary abode.

cold.

"Winter solitude-
in a world of one colour
the sound of the wind."
— Basho
Did I cry all night long? Even in my sound sleep?
I awoke this morning very aware of the weight of the skin on my face. My eyes feel hollow and heavy in their emptiness. My head aches and my body creaks with every movement, even in stillness I feel the inevitable uncomfortableness that will soon take hold.
Oh, how I hate the onset of a wintery cold.

Happy Hump Day.

Currently apartment hunting in the district, but day-dreaming about the apartment above in Toronto.
Canada anyone?
